The first event, "Kick-off to Summer" was June 2, 2018. Treasurer's reports are always two months behind. Therefore, it takes time to get all the figures. Copies of the Treasurer's reports are not provide to the public at the meetings and the Treasurer's reports were not posted on the Village website until January 2019; therefore, a FOIA request was required to obtain the information. To see the bills payable, you also had to file a FOIA request until January 2019.
As of August 31, 2018 the events at the new park had cost the taxpayers $37,226.52 and the revenue generated to that point is $20,763 resulting in a negative balance of ($16,463.52). Details of the associated cost are posted below. That $37,226.52 could have been better spent on a playground for the children to play on.
It is important to note that the Village does not include the cost of advertising these events in their totals. Cost of fliers, banners, signs, in addition to the Village newsletters are from Star Graphics & Media. However, the cost of newspaper, fliers and radio ads are not included in the cost of the Village events as well as the fee charged by Michelle Green.
The cost of the monthly Village newsletter totals $1,244.69 ($804.69 Star Graphics & Media and $440 for Michelle Green). The Village newsletters began again in October 2017 and continued monthly until after the April 2, 2019 election.
The April/May 2019 Sherman Village Newsletter arrived in mailboxes 5/30/2019. Does there really need to be such an expensive Village Newsletter? https://www.shermanil.org/Newsletters-News-_amp;-Events/newsletters/
The Village didn't begin putting the monthly warrants (bills) on the Village website until January 2019. The older information above was obtained through FOIA request of the warrants (bills).
