CAMPAIGN SIGNS

Is it legal for our mayor to post his campaign signs in the new public park? Doesn't seem right. If this is allowed Miss Shaw, Mr. Carter and Mrs. Jenkins should post some of theirs there also.

I totally agree!!! It seems totally inappropriate to put campaign signs for Village leaders on Village owned property. Just like it would be totally inappropriate to put any campaign signs for School Board Candidates on School property. I also think the large campaign signs in residential neighborhoods are TACKY and LOOK BAD!!!

 

Five or six large signs on a residential corner is OVER KILL and looks ridiculous!!!

10-10-6: PERMITTED IN ALL DISTRICTS WITHOUT PERMIT:

Signs specified in this section are in addition to the signs permitted in the respective use districts and shall not require a permit. Such signs are subject to the conditions and limitations set forth in this section:

G. Campaign Signs: Political campaign signs announcing candidates seeking public office and/or political issues and other pertinent information shall be confined to private property and shall not be attached to or located on public property. In any residential district, political campaign signs shall not exceed sixteen (16) square feet in area. In other districts, political campaign signs shall not exceed thirty two (32) square feet. Said signs shall be removed within seven (7) days after the election to which they pertain.

You could call the Village, but who in the Village will enforce this Village Code?

Someone called the Village Hall and was told the campaign signs were on private property. Really???

IL Dept Of Transportation has changed their policy regarding campaign signs this year. They have instructed their employees not to take down any campaign signs on State property unless they are still up after the election.

 

LW Sapp owns the three parcels south of the park next to Business 55.

Homes between 2000-2999 square feet were the next highest number of homes that were sold during the same time frame. Truss construction changed over the years as did many other building code requirements. To increase the value of an older home and get the most when selling, updates and improvements are a must. Two main things that sell a home are kitchens and bathrooms; however, these can also be the most expensive rooms to update. Do your homework when considering the purchase of a new home so you don't find yourself surprised by the cost of the high taxes or other high cost of living associated with the purchase of your new home. You can also contact the utility company ahead of time to find out what the average cost of utilities are.
